Btw. the worst cheese you can get in Cambodia is "Emborg". Fuckin' expensive, and it doesn't matter whether you bite into the "cheese" or the plastic wrapping. Unbelievable.

Cheers - I thought that may have been the case. It's always amusing when identical Australian products are far cheaper overseas. In my experience NZ and Oz cheeses are on par.wackyjacky wrote:No I'm not. I phrased it wrong. I don't know squat about your cheese. I like your wine, beer, and beef though. I've eaten a ton more NZ than Oz. I'm saying that one should be able to get a half decent, not great cheese from Oz for way less than than $11.50/kg, ship it here, and make a good profit. It was said that cheese @ $23/2 kilos had to be fraudulent shit.

Most of your wine is cheaper in the US. Oz customers were shocked at how cheap I sold Oz wines in my bar. I've had guys buy from me to bring back to Oz even. The best never leaves your continent through.

We bought Mrs S's family Australian wines in The Netherlands and almost without exception they turned their noses up without opening it. It took me a while to realise it was the caps - Australia uses almost no cork anymore, and then usually plastic corks. They were assuming it was cheap rubbish.wackyjacky wrote:Most of your wine is cheaper in the US. Oz customers were shocked at how cheap I sold Oz wines in my bar. There's no upside to corks except possibly with wines that will be layed down for a couple decades or more. We found that 10% of our wines with a cork were tainted and customers undoubtedly drank another at least 5% that were just slightly corked.

Yep, which is why Australia moved to caps - corks are no longer worth the trouble and losses.wackyjacky wrote:There's no upside to corks except possibly with wines that will be layed down for a couple decades or more. Well, well, well......you got to use real and high quality corks.....a good wine requires that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No educated person would EVER drink a wine with a cap on it. Wine with a cap is for tramps. You guys make it sound like decadence, tastelessness and greed for more money would be a form of progress.
