she than came back with a receipt with a qr code, telling me to download it on my phone, ( which i didn't have with me) an order what items i wanted> I told her no phone so she gave me hers and i said what i wanted> and she told me i had to order>>
WTF>>>

Never will go back

I want a menu, I want pay in CASH

as to many using phones to pay, 80% of them it takes 2.3x as long to pay as they dont know what the fuck they are doing or something goes wrong....and they have to start all over !!!
a qr code, telling me to download it on my phone,

I have seen this before. What are these QR codes? Are the installing software that contains the menu? What else might you be installing at the same time? Or are they just a link to a website?

They are a link to a website and do not install any apps.

All the people here complaining about cash-less payments and digital payments: you are hacking out your comments on what exactly? Pen and paper?
I use my computer, never do any digital transactions and certainly no typing when I am away from my desk. It's good discipline, and helps to avoid much of the dumbing-down caused by digital technology.

They were right about TV and they are right about smart phones and their cretinising effects.

But to bolster your argument, Socrates was against the use of written texts as it meant that not all information would have to be held in your head. There is always opposition to new technologies, not all justified.

I do have a smart phone and keep it in a locked drawer. Unfortunately it's needed for banking since banks increasingly refuse to provide online (via pc) access.

They are perfectly safe to use as long as you can trust the software (Fujitsu, Post Office, cough) and they haven't been hacked.

Maybe use a different smart phone for your banking.

There should be a whole thread on this subject. Poor old Hanno has had his excellent food report completely hijacked by tech issues - apologies for my part in this @hanno

just did my first Phone qr code order for a 50 gram brick of weed
Amazing how efficient/quick it was

who would have thought 2 years ago i could order weed via line, pay with my SCB account, using my phone and have it delivered, with NO worries about police showing up :beer3:

Nary a kernel in sight when I was there. I cannot vouch for the authenticity as I never lived in India (grew up with Indians and went to an Indian school, but the Indians in Kenya seem to come from a part of India where Dosas are not a thing).
Dosas are a South Indian thing. They are usually a light enough breakfast/ lunch item with a light masala filling or just alone with chutney/ sambar and don't ever include stuff like hummus or salad.

While we're on the topis of dosas, Lotus Dosa Corner is pretty good.

The Indians in Kenya are mostly from Gujarat, that is why Dosa was never a thing there.

So in summary.
QR code weed orders - fantastic.
QR menus - from the pit of hell.

It’s almost like a different person wrote this post…
