Great greasy spoon in Kampot

Post by RikUpgrade »

Discovered a great little cafe in Kampot while down there, Sunrise cafe. Opposite Magic sponge on that guesthouse street. Probably the best fry up I've had in Cambo.

The Khmer lady there even makes her own back bacon & hash browns !

Other stuff on the menu looks great also...and they have quality coffee for just $1.

Highly recommend.

coffee for "just" $1! it used to cost 25c and you could get 2 eggs on a fresh baguette for $1 !!... now some greedy buggers ask $5 for two poached eggs on buns with a manky sauce on them to justify the crazy price...named after some benedictine monk I think
( not at this sunrise place..good luck to them)

You should also check out Paris restaurant for the breakfast there..Sophia makes her own sausages....when they still had guest houses I stayed in them for 3 years ..covid and landlords wanting more rent killed that off..from salt workers roundabout head down to Apsara guest house they are next door
have a great day !

Didn't know they had to close the guesthouse, that's sad Soph is one of the OGs in Kampot. Was the first place I stayed at some 10+ years ago, right around the time she created the first food menu.

That was in a different location though, weird place with open "ventilation" between the bathrooms so you could hear your neighbors poo lol. Part of the Cambodian charm I figured.

no guests because of covid and when each lease came for renewal an increase in rent was demanded...pointless to keep going she is doing quite well as just a restaurant
