Good n' cheap tasty sources of protein

Post by Raybull »

I get enough carbs from copious amounts of beer so tend to concentrate on meats and protein when enjoying a meal whether at home or at the many fine dining venues in SHV  and elsewhere. With all that beer, If I ate pizza, subs and spaghetti everyday I'd surely be a fat fuck a set of stairs away from a cardiac or dead already at my young age I reckon. A couple friends of mine hit the gym nearly everyday and spend quite a bit on protein pow, supplements and what not, but I'm kinda a skinny bony fat lazy knob preferring to only eat real food and usually exercise at the beach or at home in various ways...Really I'm just too busy sleeping to meet them for their early morning sessions, and usually still hungover if they decide to go early afternoons :pardon:. Regardless, substantial protein intake is key to maintain a passable physique (under the veneer of clothes that is), and crucial while trying to lose weight but maintain some semblance of muscle mass, so here's my go to staples. Prices and Protein % do vary.
Eggs-5kr/10, steamed in the rice cooker then salty soy sauce, some collateral cholesterol damage though
Saich koh ang-40kr per kilo at the psar but I always tend to finish the whole cow with many beers, so better to eat out 10-12kr per dish, my staple going out protein dish with prohoc and veggies
BBQ whole chicken-5-7$ for a full KH chicken, if you go for the TH ones suffer the side affects
Prawns-6$/kg fresh farmed, 9-10$/kg sea caught, best go for the latter near the train station stalls, the real McCoy
Crabs-6-10$/kg, same as above but meat content is a fraction, gotta love em though
Squid-preferred sundried and must be eaten with beer, can't stand the smell or taste of it ang'ed or snao'ed
Fresh water fish 1kg- 5kr and up per for a decent one at the psar, along with eggs this is the mainstay for the struggling KH lifters and builders
Sea fish 1kg snapper etc-8kr and up, dtray choo p'aym is one of my favs
Canned fish-trafficked and enslaved caught mackerel, tuna and sardines in various sauces from you know where, tasty but heavily tainted
Peanuts-bought fresh and boiled with a pinch or ten of salt for 20 minutes. Equally suitable for breaky or the ktv. :D
Please feel free to share a few more!

I'll add edamame for the vegans, bon sai barang, sometimes available for 5-6kr/kg at the markets, or ten times that at stores

"Tofu is a good source of protein and contains all eight essential amino acids. It is also an excellent source of iron and calcium and the minerals manganese, selenium and phosphorous. In addition, tofu is a good source of magnesium, copper, zinc and vitamin B1."

I would rather die than eat tofu. Period.

As for eggs, don't believe the hype regarding cholesterol. Eggs are possibly the healthiest source of raw protein.

Tofu - the only food that can make water seem tasty.

Yeah, just thought they're might be more to it than the shit you can buy at the prohat sellers for 500r a stick. Better than what SinnSinsamouth is chowing down on though!

Agreed, on all three. Slow BBQed ducks eggs are a treat too!
