Here is the recipe

Looks tempting but alot of work, think I'd still rather eat a bowl of fresh picked boiled edamame beans and a slab of tuna sashmi rather than sweetened curds made from overripe soybean milk.
Actually I've eaten this and a few variations thereof with added fruits and sweet milk, but I'm just not of fan of sweet food. The only time I'll add sugar is to a latte.

Not sure how you can get it in Sihnaoukville, but in Phnom Penh, you can't get is so easily. It is originated from Vietnam and normally you can get it from Vietnamese vendors carry it along the way. You can get it for 1000 riel for a medium plastic glass. It tastes really good and also smell really good as they put ginger in the sauce.

You can get it at a couple places and some lady walks around selling it in the vietnamese areas around O'mouy before, not sure if they're still there as quite a few of them have 'left' back home over the last 2 years.

I see. I think in general, you might not like southeast asia desserts as they tend to be sweeter. i have never had it in Sihanoukivlle.

Care to elaborate? :unknown:
I'll add edamame for the vegans, bon sai barang, sometimes available for 5-6kr/kg at the markets, or ten times that at stores
"Tofu is a good source of protein and contains all eight essential amino acids. It is also an excellent source of iron and calcium and the minerals manganese, selenium and phosphorous. In addition, tofu is a good source of magnesium, copper, zinc and vitamin B1."

Available in all local markets

Hehe all asian desserts I've eaten are really good, but I just prefer salty snack than sweet...bbq crickets, pistachios, chips, quails eggs, dried squid and beef, etc.

Tofu is fine infused in a spicy curry or well flavoured stir fry but, as pointed out, is pretty tasteless otherwise.

I eat a dish with tofu, pork and watercress stir fried quite a lot, it's good. Similarly I eat a lot of Indian dishes with tofu substituted for meat/paneer.

$2.50 buys enough tofu for a human to eat for a week here.

For those who can't stand tofu; lentils, beans and chickpeas are good sources of protein and can be very tasty. A tin is about $1.20 and if you add meat and/or veges it will feed 2 people. Not as cheap as tofu but much tastier. Make good salads too.

Extremely easy recipe to cook in a fry pan: Fry some sausages (I like Dan Meat beef sausages because they're spicy and not fatty) or some bacon, add onion, garlic, cumin powder and curry powder, capisicum chopped finely and black pepper - when that looks good, add a chopped tomato - cook a bit then add a tin of lentils, butter beans or chickpeas. Heat and eat. Hint: if you cook it a bit before you want to eat and reheat it will have more flavour.
