We always have steak and gravy rolls with our leftovers- SO yummy!!!Sailorman wrote:
In addition you now get a beer of your choice, or a glass of wine. (or a coke.) Well worth the money. The steak is so big I make two meals out of it.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

I ate there last night as part of a group of 6.
Excellent value at $10 for all you can eat and drink.
The girls put the food in the broth and made nice soup. The broth was topped up regularly. The food included Prawns and Crabs (live I found out as I dunked them in the boiling broth), meat balls, thinly sliced meats that were not too tough and plenty of green stuff that is apparently vegetables. I chose to eat mostly the meats and meat and fish balls and seafood, but the soup was yummy.
There was a buffet at the entry that has crumbed chicken and prawns and sushi (although not well replenished when gone).
All you can drink beer and sodas. The beer was not too bad, better then 5 man brewery beer.
Not upset tummies from our group.
I will happily frequent the place again, great value, clean and good service. The place was half full, which is a lot of people, mostly Khmers. We got there about 7.45pm.

Maybe I just hit them on an off(empty) day, but while driving by, the place always seemed kind of empty, but it is a big place. BTW/ When I went there the beer was sh*t. It was watery and 9/10s foam. (the orange juice was warm and they didn't have any ice.) I really didn't care much for the conveyer belt idea as this is Cambodia and its difficult to keep flies out and, you can't tell how long the food has been riding the belt without proper refrigeration. Maybe they have improved and when I feel adventurous I may try them again, but the last time really put me off in more ways than one.
Its interesting that we sometimes think of Cambodia as being cheap. In America, you can go to a Chinese Buffet for about the same price as this place and there is tons of food and a big variety including shrimp, crab, fish, etc. (real crab, not the baby crab you get here/there.)

Well the food was moving fast as in being consumed, quickly.
I think you should go a bit later in the evening and on a busy night such as on a weekend and you should have no worries about the freshness of the food.
The beer came in pitchers and was cold, so too was the Fanta.
We all said we will go back again.
As for buffets; well I took two friends to a Yum Cha in Melbourne the previous Sunday and the bill was $a100 for the food. Then we went to a Pub and had two pints of nice Amber ale which cost $A23. To me this place is cheap, especially considering the free flow of beer.

I used to go to a Chinese Buffet in Washington State. If I remember right it was something like $12us for all you could eat and all the tea/coke/orange juice you could drink. (lots of food, not like the buffets I've been to in Cambodia with wafer thin meat and such and small plates.) I also use to get takeaway. You would go in, get containers, get what you wanted and buy it by the pound. For myself and my son it would be around $23.us.
My favorite Bar-B-Q place in the states, Famous Dave's has a feast for four people that has a full slab of ribs, a whole chicken,1/2lb of beef brisket, coleslaw, fries, beans, corn, and corn bread. All served on a metal garbage can lid with stand. (no not a used one) All for $71us. That's $17.75 a person. Great food, try it if you get to the states. They also play blues over the sound system in the loos. The place looks like you are in a friends mountain cabin with vintage fishing/hunting gear everywhere.

I understand your concerns. I went by last night after dinner elsewhere at about 8.30pm and there were only about 4 people there.
Weekends around 7 to 8 pm is when it would appear to be pumping and the food should be fresh.
Re: Golden Crown Buffet Restaurant, Sinhanoukville
Thanks, I'll give it another try between 7 and 8. I hope they don't put the screaming kids by me this time. (The whole restaurant was empty and they put a women and her screaming kids by me.)

Beware.
The night after I visited this place I had my first ever attack of gout!
Bloody painful.
