Best french food in phnom
Re: Best french food in phnom
Bouchon or Deli.
I was surprised by Brasserie Louis in the Vattanac Tower. Found it to be better than Topaz (quality/price, wine list and food taste)

Don't forget the water buffalo

Pepe Bistro on street 13 between 172 and 178. Very nice...
Thanks everyone for the other recommendations, I have now found two more within 5 minutes walk from my apartment.

I wanted to go there last month, but I thought they looked closed when I went past. Unless it was for holidays or something ?

Unlike the previous owner of Gaston, the new owner prefers to maintain the aircon inside and keep the security doors closed accordingly. So you need to peer inside.. He is concerned that some people think it is shut or private function and has since put up a flashy sign out the front that may help.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 1:16 pmI wanted to go there last month, but I thought they looked closed when I went past. I like their set menu of entree, main and desert + glass of wine. $10 if you sit at bar before I think 8 or 8.30pm, otherwise I think it's $12 or $12.50 at a table.

What are the selections on the set menu?

Apparently, it changes daily and there is no option within the set entree/main/dessert. I tend to go once every 1-2 weeks. However, I've been several times and some of the things I've had are: entree: invariably a salad of some sort ie lettuce or tomato with egg, mains: omelet, cold ham, beef tournedos, mergeuz sausages, pork and dessert: flambe crepe or mango mousse. There are probably others.
Good value imo considering wine is $3-3.50 but only if you fancy the selection on the board on the day. Note: the main is smaller serve than the off the menu equivalent.

With set menus sometimes it is not what you want so you move on. If they have it advertised outside you can decide to stay or go.
