"any posters in snooky like red wine? '
I saw on another post what you like to eat so if I lived in Shitsvile I'd be suspicious of those beverages you enjoy imbibing in.

For that exercise I think you would be better moving to Phnom Penh, as there are plenty of good wine bars and wine shops here. On the odd time I visited Sihanoukville I would buy wine from Samudera, they used to have some half decent Bordeaux's from around $10. Now there is also Celliers d'Asie I believe, but never been in. I would also buy some duck pate, Camembert and baguette, and go around to Espresso Kampuchea and share same with Gordon and Sopal.bolueeleh wrote:any posters in snooky like red wine? maybe we can get a group together for drinking and sharing bottles, exchange some pointers like where is the best red wine on offer in SHV etc, we can do a weekly or fortnightly or monthly meet up for drinking and some food. anyone interested?
Probably it might be better to get one or two friends and rotate residence so to speak. I used to do that occasionally, but in Phnom Penh there are so many venues to choose from that I mostly go out. When I used to visit Sihanoukville, there was always a shortage of decent restaurants, and the ones that were OK seemed to be clueless about wine and never served anything decent. That goes for Phnom Penh also to some extent, and while there are restaurants that serve good wine, there are also quite a few that serve poor quality wine at exorbitant rates.
My apartment out at Prek Leap borders the Mekong and has a nice outside area, where I can enjoy a nice bottle of Bordeaux.

The best deal would mostly be by buying in bulk from Celliers d'Asie, for individual bottles I find the Golden Star Mart to offer the best prices (surprisingly). I usually stick to the Maipo, Castillero del Diablo or Wolfblass Yellow Label, depending on who's buying and drinking.bolueeleh wrote:any posters in snooky like red wine? maybe we can get a group together for drinking and sharing bottles, exchange some pointers like where is the best red wine on offer in SHV etc, we can do a weekly or fortnightly or monthly meet up for drinking and some food. anyone interested?
Most Khmer unless rich and/or educated abroad, wouldn't know much difference and probably prefer the Maipo to a 30$ one. But I'm not a wine snob either so long as it's decent.
If you're looking for restaurants with some selection, try the french ones in Victory Hill.

I'm an American. None of that touchy, feely sommelier jargon for me. One criteria only-does it do the job?
