How does it stack up vs say other fast food burgers here like BK, Carl Jr's, Lucky, Burgershack etc?Brody wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 7:17 pm Anyway......
I dropped by this place today.
I'm a born and bred SoCal guy but I have never heard of The Habit.
I guess they're more central to northern California. Santa Barbara area.
I ordered one of the basic set meals, the double patty burger with medium fries and medium drink. Came to $11.
It was a decent burger and the fries were good. Nothing to write home about and I wouldn't go out of my way to get one again. Too bad for Mike's Burgers, this place opened just up the street from him, lol.
They are obviously staffed with some Americans to help with the opening of the flagship restaurant in Cambodia. We'll see how they do once this crew flies back home.
Whilst eating my meal there was some meeting going on with the American staff. Jesus, one of the women had the prototypical grating California girl accent.......which I had forgotten how much I hate. And what a loud mouth too. I almost suggested that she relocate to an anteroom so that I could enjoy my food in peace. FFS, all the "like's", "Ya knows", and talk of clubbing was grinding my eardrums into submission.
Then she started disdainfully "training" one of the sweet Khmer staff. This really pissed me off. She was talking to this girl like she was a two year old. You know, with every ending syllable going up in intonation. She was telling this poor girl, "You see this here? This is a table leg. You see how it's not clean? We need to clean that." Yadda Yadda.
But one positive was that it stopped the two Khmer staff from standing 5 feet from me and starring at me whilst I noshed. I was only one of two customers eating at the time, lol.
Competent staff, food was good. Will I be back? Probably not. It just didn't stand out enough to make the trek worth it.

It was kind of heavy on the sauce which left the burger taste wallowing in a sea of other flavors. Similar to Lucky burger and Carl's but the paddies were larger.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 7:40 pm How does it stack up vs say other fast food burgers here like BK, Carl Jr's, Lucky, Burgershack etc?
I believe they offer the choice of building your own burger so that may be a non issue as you can direct the addition of sauces. I think BK was better but it's been 6 years since I ate there.
Never been to Burgershack.
Jesus, I'm getting fatter just talking all this fast food stuff.
Extra cardio for me tomorrow .

Southern Ca with 209 outlets,,,https://www.habitburger.com/locations/all/
One bite of a hot, juicy Charburger and suddenly you’re in Santa Barbara, California, 1969. After all, it was in that picturesque, coastal Southern California town, in the same year that the first astronauts landed on the moon, that the original Habit Burger Grill opened its doors.

The double patty burger... was it the same as a Big Mac in size (1/4lb in total), or a double quarter-pounder size?
In any event $11 for a burger, fries and a drink seems very expensive even if it was an enormous one.

Church’s? Better? You must be kidding.cautious colin wrote:Texas/Church’s chicken opening on 302 (one road up from fast food corner) soon.
I liked it in US but have never been to one outside of there. Got to be better than KFC
Greasy, over fried, tasteless meat.
Even CP chicken has better taste.
KFC Pot Pies are good.
Popeyes (Louisiana) is pretty good. Especially the spicy chicken sandwich. Basically a small boneless fried chicken breast stuffed in between 2 pieces of bread.

KFC in Cambodia is terrible. Pretty sure they don't do pot pies here either
So yes, in Cambodia it has to be better than KFC
Re: American fast food burger joint arrives
I'd say it was closer to the Big Mac in size.
Also it was quite saucy.....which caused it to get soggy and slowly disintegrate onto the wrapper. So for the last half of the burger I had to scoop up burger / bun /tomato / etc. parts and get them to my mouth.
Not a huge deal but a wee bit messy and embarrassing having to do that while two cute Khmer waitresses are standing there staring at you. Ha ha.
Re: American fast food burger joint arrives
That's a big mistake with the sauce, less is more sometimes. When I make my own Big Macs (better than the real thing!) I use one small teaspoon of sauce on two bun surfaces - just like McD's do. If you increase it 3 or 4 teaspoons it ends up a gloopy mess that falls apart. For a franchise operation to get that wrong does not bode well.Brody wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 9:38 amI'd say it was closer to the Big Mac in size.

At $11, that seems the wrong side of $10 for a burger, fries and a drink, even with pretty girls to look at. Where are the photos Brody??
