That will be a shame if it closed down. One of the better paying schools around.

Turkey repeats FETÖ extradition request to Cambodia
Turkey on Oct. 2 repeated its extradition request for three suspected FETÖ members from Cambodia.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu at a joint news conference with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, said: “We have repeated our extradition request to Cambodia on the issue of three high profile FETÖ members.”

“This terror group is a threat not only for Turkey, but every country it operates in.”

Turkey’s top diplomat said FETÖ “infiltrates in state institutions by using charter schools as cover-up, then tries to control the politics in that country”.

Çavuşoğlu said he talked about the operations of FETÖ with his Cambodian counterpart and said Turkey is ready to take over FETÖ-controlled schools with Turkey’s Maarif Foundation.

Backstory from 2016: https://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/ ... an-schools
With an attempted coup against the government of President Recep Erdogan quashed only days ago and more than 7,000 alleged conspirators now under arrest, the Turkish ambassador to Cambodia yesterday pressed the government to take action against local schools affiliated with the man it claims responsible.

At a hastily called noon press conference, Ambassador Ilhan Khemal Tug called on the Kingdom to shutter the Zaman International School and Zaman University in Phnom Penh.

Turkey expects Cambodia to “halt all support” of the schools, Tug said, and for the schools to “end all activities” because of their association with cleric and political figure Fethullah Gulen’s Gulen Movement, which Turkey has designated a terrorist group since 2013.

If you have the juice to summon the big man for a photo-op, you might not have much to worry about.

Turkish gov’t requests that Cambodia extradite alleged members of Gülen movement
3 October 2018
The Turkish government repeated its extradition request for three Turkish nationals from Cambodia on Tuesday as part of its massive post-coup global witch hunt targeting alleged members of the Gülen movement.

According to a report by Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency on Tuesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said during a joint news conference with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, “We have repeated our extradition request to Cambodia on the issue of three high profile FETÖ members.”

“FETÖ” is a derogatory term coined by ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to refer to the Gülen movement.

Classroom or cult? Turkey’s campaign against Fethullah Gülen
By: Paul Millar - Posted on: October 11, 2016 | Current Affairs
Southeast Asian schools linked to Fethullah Gülen, the cleric accused of masterminding the attempted coup in Turkey, are being targeted by the country’s furious regime...

Atasever [Zaman spokesperson] stressed that the running of Cambodia’s Zaman schools was entirely a local affair.
“There is no formal link between [the schools and] any organisation around Cambodia,” he said. “The institutions… may have several partnership agreements with some [others] across Southeast Asia, but so far there has been no solid cooperation except for some workshops or conferences.”
