Your Favourite Cambodian Products

Post by siliconlife »

Many people don't think of Cambodia as a place that offers high quality domestic goods, but that doesn't mean some clever business-people aren't breaking the mold. I thought I would start a thread about what local products CEO members enjoy using. Here are two of my own, and I'd love to hear about some of yours.

Item 1) Mr Kim's Fried Chilli
I've been loving this stuff for a couple of months now. The red one is pure fire, and the black has more flavour, while still definitely bringing the heat. Highly recommended, can bring a plain bowl of rice to life.

Item 2) Ronin's Sonic RE-01 Earbuds.
These are made by a Khmer gaming gear company, but for the price and quality, I recommend them to anyone in the market for earbuds. The Sonic RE-01s have well above average bass, can be cranked to max volume with no crackling, and have a pretty cool design with a detachable mic. The cable is a little short, but for $17 I'm giving these beauties a 5 star rating without hesitation.

I was surprised to find out after purchase to see that these were a Khmer product, and then I noticed that there are now 3 different electronics manufacturers operating in Cambodia (Sumitronics, SVI, and ASCA). Let's hope this kind of diversification continues.

The happy pizza/happy shakes. Ask your nearest tuk tuk driver to point you in the right direction.

Mekong whiskey, the old stuff with the red and gold label that was only 3000 Riel per bottle a few years ago.
It disappeared for a while. Now it’s back, costs about $3 a bottle, and doesn’t taste the same.
Anyone know what happened to the old stuff?

A 4X increase in price and lower quality? Completely and utterly preposterous!

That kimchi is too sweet for me and the chili used seems to be not quite right.
