Do you read travel or expat blogs?
After being back in the west a couple of months I've been at a loose end and decided to head back to SEA for a while to launch a travel blog geared toward really cheap travel, or dirt cheap travel, as I've a little bit of experience getting around on the bear minimum. The blog will also include a day to day account of my life taking photos and living cheap. Yeah, riveting, I know.
I've set the web page up, written a few pages/blogs offering advice on a few topics (yet to be uploaded) but wonder if catering to the newbie is the way to go, I think there's a niche for a dirt cheap travel blog (I mean really cheap travel) but I'm not sure whether offering something that's driven toward nightlife, bars and generally a bit more hardcore is the way to go.
If you're someone who reads blogs at all, what are you attracted to? Do you enjoy more humor laden content from people's travels, or "war" stories from the road, or perhaps nightlife, bars and girls is your thing.
Just curious what others might enjoy reading online.

OK now that I've got that levity off my chest, I'll be a bit more constructive..Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 5:35 pm After being back in the west a couple of months I've been at a loose end and decided to head back to SEA for a while to launch a travel blog geared toward really cheap travel, or dirt cheap travel, as I've a little bit of experience getting around on the bear minimum. I guess you gotta think who is your target audience if you have experience/advice to give on cheap travel..
I'm thinking that would therefore apply to younger backpacker/student types? Or, do you think there's a niche for older retirees?
I would think a story telling style of narrative mixed with lots of anecdotes and pics would be the go maybe? Make it as interesting as possible..
Nightlife would naturally be part of that but not over emphasized at the risk of getting into monger territory..

You would have to do it well to stand out from the crowd.
I suggest, enable other people to contribute, even if read their articles before posting them.

Re: Do you read travel or expat blogs?
I know there are an enormous amount of blogs out there saying the same shit, I read most of them. But here's the thing - I love writing. I write between two and three thousand words every day already, so putting it into blog form is no biggie. Monetizing and getting some dough isn't my primary motivation for doing it, although that would be nice. But of course, my blog will be unique and as a consequence hugely successful. I've set up twitter, FB, Instagram, youtube and the web page already. I'm about to pull the trigger on it but just pausing to be sure.

I can't be arsed to look at people's Instagram, let alone read their blogs. But good luck anyhow.
