Do you play Tong Tin?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Oh, and the only other thing I know is that on the two occasions that my wife has 'won' over the years, the 'leader' has disappeared with the money!

Is that normal?

Very normal, very common and this is a very very high risk saving scheme. Scroll up and read my comment again. The thing is that the money has to be on the leader hands first before presenting to you.

Lol, she didn't won the game but that was all her saved money or shares.

Yeah, pretty much my experience too. It's a fucking lame saving scheme with too many avenues for rip-offs. The economics of it don't make any sense.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Took forever for me to finally understand this "game", not that my partners explanation's weren't clear, it was just that I couldn't comprehend the ridiculousness of it. The chance of getting ripped off by the "leader" is far too great, and that's exactly what happened to one of my sister-in-law's, and that finally convinced my missus to stop "investing" in this stupid "game"

Avoid it like the plague.

Long list of people absconding with the savings, that's why it is illegal, people lose fortunes to con artists

Generally, yes, avoid like the plague.

In the event that a loved one is insisting on playing please have them ensure registration with the sangat to deter running off.

there was a good research paper written in one of the us unis about this phenomena. I cant seem to find it right now but it explains what it is. anybody know which 1 im talking about? The one where no interview subject wanted to talk but was keen on hearing the best strategy which the paper had in its conclusion.

i have never played but several girls have lost thousands of my dollars to it. avoid playing and anybody that does.

Thanks, Samouth for explanation and everyone for sharing. If you want to play Tong Tin, you have to find a reliable leader and members. I've played it, but now I don't play it because my sister was cheated by other member and the leader not give her money back. When anyone plays Tong Tin too many heads or gives the incridible hight rate that person seems to be a scammer because when s/he collects all money, s/he might run away.
