You count your lucky stars you're in Cambodia when...
...you can buy lunch for 2 people for less than $3.
...you can get a haircut on the side of the road for $1; or go to a barbers with aircon and pay $2.
...at 6am, many of the locals exercise before their daily routine. At 6pm, many of the locals exercise after their daily routine.
...coffee and cigarettes cost less than $3.
...a meal and tower of beer at a self-BBQ with a bunch of friends costs less than $10.
...you wait for green at the traffic lights, and around you, there's always a freshly boy/lesbian tomboy vainly fixing themselves in their Moto mirrors.

One does not appreciate Cambodia so much until you return to your home country and have to pay
$652 for your house insurance
Near $1000 for your council rates every six months.
Two months internet 5 gb only cost $50.
Wait at a bus stop for a bus that comes every hour, [ takes me 45 minuets walk to where I want to go ]
You have to make sure there are no cars coming before you cross the road.
You buy a can of coke for $3 , the same price as water.
Australia, a great country, but no-one can afford to live there. Even workers on the average yearly income of $52,000 are being classed as '' the working poor '' and present news report say thousands of Kiwi's are packing up and heading home.
Get me a ticket out of here to a place I can afford to die.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

We are indeed very fortunate that government forces clashing with protestors, strikes, kidnappings, assassinations police shooting innocent people etc etc etc does not happen here.VLayHo-ho-ho wrote:...you see news on any format: from facebook to newspapers about;

Cambodia is pretty cheap (but the food isn't amazing unless it's Chinese), but there are many countries where you pay about the same, or slightly more and get much better value ( perhaps apart from accomodation). Cambodia is also a bit of a run down very poor kinda place, and there are other countries that are cleaner, more attractive, better developed, and that have a lot more to offer. Places like Vietnam offer great VFM, even some parts of Thailand. What about Laos?, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka. That's just for starters! And i'm not even trying!VLayHo-ho-ho wrote:...you can buy lunch for 2 people for less than $3.

Cambodia offers something unique, with some pretty awful human rights, and some dodgy expats. Dig deeper and below the smiles of Cambodia theres some shit the place needs to sort out. I still love Cambodia, it's cool-but it aint the best any more.
Rider of the storm.
