You'd better take that plastic bag

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Seemingly friendly, after a little bargaining we agreed on a price (which was still a bit high,) and as I was preparing to get into the tuk tuk he turned to his friend and called me 'motherfucking monkey' in Khmer. I stopped, turned and walked away. He chased me down and, with a smile, asked what I was doing. I repeated what he said in Khmer, adding 'knyom?' (me?) at the end. He stared at me silently. I turned and walked away again. This time he didn't chase after me. This sort of thing doesn't happen to me in Phnom Penh.
Hahaha. Barrang know Khmer!? OooOoOo

This is a very good point. Soon they will even start to realize that their jobs depend upon us fuck twat foreigners.

Just spent time at the counter at a corner pharmacy near Olympic listening to two other chemists and their two customers ragging on 'the barang'. I was putting together some choice comments in my head and decided to hold my tongue until the chemist serving me returned, and then completed the transaction in Khmer. It went very, very silent in the peanut gallery at that point.

Why? Most of us can afford motorbikes/etc. Khmers use the shit out of tuktuks... probably as a whole much more money flows through tuktuk hands from khmer passengers (who weigh less costing less fuel, and know exactly where they're going without the hassle and wasted time of translations/etc).

For some reason Orange Dragon is a bit peeved today, isn't he ? Ahh, early morning you know - after the first cup of coffee things will look completely different.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Nothing peeved in that... just curious why someone would think that western foreigners are what the tuktuk drivers thrive on?

If any foreigners it would be the Vietnamese, Chinese and Koreans.

Just like why opening a westerner targeted business in Cambodia is sort of a dumb move (aside from those just opening it because they want to own a bar, and not looking to profit). We make up a dismally small percentage of the population on any given day, and there are 2000 other businesses competing for our money.

You responded to me, not in general, so now I want you to go find where I referred to tuk tuk drivers? Geez
