Xmas Gifts For The Folks Back Home. Suggestions??
Will be taking the wife and kids for their first trip to Oz for Xmas in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for gift suggestions for the folks back home. The budget for each gift is $10.
Probably looking for something 'Cambodian' rather than a gift they've 'always wanted' and will treasure for the rest of their life.
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA

A gift they've always wanted for $ 10 . Australians are not very demanding, are they ?Username Taken wrote:Will be taking the wife and kids for their first trip to Oz for Xmas in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for gift suggestions for the folks back home. The budget for each gift is $10.

Buy each of them a case of Beer Klang. I think they'll like it.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Orphans.
Kidding. I got my fam and friends those 5x7 water color paintings they sell in russian market. I think they were like 5 for $2 or something, the lady even discounted further when I bought 20 of them, lol.

3 corners coffee (Lao blend is best, imho) some viet drip cups, wrapped in a krama. That's about $7 all in. Boom.

Guess sapphire pendants from Toul Tompong Market are out then. Lots of cheap antique style trinkets in TTP market though that are appreciated by the girls. Not sure what to do for the guys though. Maybe a six pack of Klang as suggested by FrancisUsername Taken wrote:Will be taking the wife and kids for their first trip to Oz for Xmas in a couple of weeks. ROTFL,etc. You guys are a riot!
Airfares for 5 people don't come cheap. (You do the sums).
And we need gifts for 11 people. (More sums).
Cheers,
@Digg3r, you take coffee to Oz?

Check out Cambodian Creations on street 113 at the side of Toul Sleng Museum (they have a Facebook if you look) fair trade stuff from various producers.
Also worth a look is Wat Thann Artisans at Wat Thann next to Topaz. Again fairtrade stuff surprisingly big shop and workshop.
