The women folk all seem to go silly for scarves, especially in Burberry print. I can't explain it either, but there you go.

Hmmm.....crocodile eggs maybe....they go for around 5 bucks here. Not saying that you don't have enough of that beasts already over there, but for children it can be fun watching the eggs hatch. A crocodile in the garden also keeps unwanted individuals like bailiffs, cops.....postmen with invoices....and so on away. Think practically when you make x-mas presents.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Not sure what you can take into Oz for coffee etc (customs), but there's a charity shop (blind people maybe ?) at Russian market that sells little gift packs of Khmer curry and other spices. Its on a street on the outside of the market.

I wouldn't take any food products into oz, this will hold you up in customs for a very long time and it will almost certainly be removed from you anyway.Anchor Moy wrote:Not sure what you can take into Oz for coffee etc (customs), but there's a charity shop (blind people maybe ?) at Russian market that sells little gift packs of Khmer curry and other spices. Viable ones should be fine, the cuddly folk at AFP particularly like it when they hatch as you pass through the airport.Anchor Moy wrote:So no crocodile eggs then ?

krahmas are cheap and very Cambodian but I would suggest you go to Pursat and get some carvings done by locals. Smaller ones can go for 10-15 range. Along the river across from town at the bridge.Username Taken wrote:Will be taking the wife and kids for their first trip to Oz for Xmas in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for gift suggestions for the folks back home. The budget for each gift is $10.
Probably looking for something 'Cambodian' rather than a gift they've 'always wanted' and will treasure for the rest of their life.
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA
the small fish was 10, but in a small shop at the bridge on Hwy 5, the other was 15 from an old lady who used to teach carving. Prices on this stuff have gone up over the last few years.
