I witnessed violent intervention at street 51

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

More info? Sounds like a story... I chased some jaos last night. Maybe we should start wearing capes if things get any worse.

No you can't get robbed by Moto ( it is just a machine) You meant motordop. FTFY

I wonder if those joa only target foreigner or expat, because i have been around there quite a few times and nothing wrong ever happened on me. I was really stupid as i always carried around my phone with me and not anymore.

OK, I'm on my phone, so bare with me as I have big thumbs.

I'm an idiot and learned a hard lesson last night.

I was not watching my cash as I was having a big night out and unexpectedly ran out of cash. I had to use my American account to pull out cash and my rent was due today.. I figured that I would pull out $390 since I was being charged a 5$ fee. The moto driver must have spotted the hundreds. Drive me down a dark alley and stuck a knife to my belly. I gave him all the 100 bills and ran. Somehow I ended up outside Club Vito. Went home. First mugging in the country. All my fault.

Damn, that's rough... Where did he pick you up? I mean was he just hanging out on 51 or some random guy you flagged off Norodom or something? It's unusual for regular motodops to do this as then they need to change their turf. Did your spidey senses start tingling once he took you into the alley? Which ey was it? Was it an area of town you knew? Was it on the way to your destination or way off course? We're you totally drunk or...?

And how did he stick a knife in your belly? He stopped and turned around while you were still on the back of the bike? Seems like a difficult move. Feel free to answer once you get your hands on a proper keyboard.

Thanks for posting SQUF. Good wake-up call.

I've never been robbed (touch wood), but mostly due to the fact that I either didn't have anything to steal, or I just "lost" stuff because i was careless/drunk or both, so it was pretty easy and always my own fault.
Sounds like it was a wild PP night. Are people getting more desperate ?
