Will THE PHNOM PENH POST be the Next English Newspaper to be Shut Down in Cambodia? (UPDATE)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

sad news;
In less than a year, Cambodia has gone from having the freest press in the region to being one of the most repressive and dangerous places to be a journalist. In the 2018 Reporters Without Borders press freedom index published last month, Cambodia dropped 10 places from 132 to 142, and the country’s independent press was described as being “in ruins”. This was echoed by the Cambodian Centre for Independent Media, which recently concluded that the “facade” of free press in Cambodia had collapsed entirely, with almost half of journalists reporting intimidation.
Speaking to the Guardian from Washington DC, where he is seeking political asylum, Pheap voiced his sorrow. “Any journalist who writes the real situation of Cambodia, anything that the government doesn’t like, then they will do everything to intimidate or prosecute us, and make sure we do not feel safe in our own country,” he said. “Because of this I have lost everything.”

Would a forum such as CEO be permitted to operate or operate uncensored in China?
Pay your taxes?
Shit, it was a typo. This site was supposed to say Columbia Expats Online.

But in all seriousness, who knows. That said, we do edit the PM's name out and I'm about as interested in local politics as I am in basket weaving.

Media today said an investor from Malaysia bought PP Post and the guy is pro H.S.... I guess that means the tax bill disappears now.

According to the Press Release and Statement posted here general-chatter/will-the-phnom-penh-pos ... ml#p244540 the tax bill was 'settled fully and amicably last week'.
