it's a shame but at this point it's game over for that shithole, i still have lots of photos from 6-7 yrs ago.
and without the lake what would be the point ? as it is now it looks like a slum.
i'm sure some of the lowest rock bottom tourists would love it BECAUSE it's a slum but what the hell ....

Yeah, I feel ya. It was really sad the first time I went back there after having to leave because of the illegal evictions.clippy wrote:
for those of us that saw the lake (like me), i wouldnt hang out there much. it just makes me feel sad to see it as it is now
But the last few times have been much better! It's good to see them getting back to "normal."
I don't like mentioning it to the locals in that neighborhood as it does seem like it just brings up a sad story.

Nothing further to add, just wanted to see if it would fly to the top again.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

You can read Khmer, so read this បឹង.StroppyChops wrote:On a complete tangent, is Boeung pronounced "boong", "bong", or "bung"? We're moving into BT and locals are pronouncing it all three ways.
I would say similar to 'bung', but with a slight 'er' before the 'u'.
@taabarang, look, it went to the top again. Amazing.

Sounds right. I hear it as similar to the aircraft manufacturer Boeing but with an 'uh' sound. The second name in BT is pronounced 'dtom-PUN', yeah?Username Taken wrote:I would say similar to 'bung', but with a slight 'er' before the 'u'.

I think a small bar / coffee-shop would do well there ...tiny risk...I wonder what the rent is like...

Now I'm confused. I thought you meant Boeung Trabek (BT).
So, you're moving to Boeung Tumpun (BT)? (Careful how you spell that in English ).
That one has always confused me. I used to think the locals were saying Boeung J'pon. But, when we take a tuk tuk home my wife always says Phsar Doeum Thkov (with the Th sounding more like an S). When I'm asked where I live, I usually say near Wat Sonsomkosal, much easier to say.
Anyway, it's no where near Boeung Kak.

Yes, Boeung Tompun. Causes massive confusion, although as soon as we mention the street number the locals know it exactly. Ah Bodge. Thou art a mysterious bitch.
