Cambodia News (Steung Treng): On December 27, 2020, Mr. Ny Morng, the police chief of Sdao commune, Sen San district, said that he received a complaint from a man who reported that he and his wife traveled from their house in Sdao commune to Stueng Treng market with their young daughter, and that now his wife has gone missing.

The woman is believed to have ran away with another man, leaving her 22-year-old husband and her 5-year-old baby at the market. It happened on December 25, 2020, at 12 pm; so on December 27, since his wife hasn't returned home yet, the husband decided to file an official complaint.

A woman who was missing named Chan Bunhan, 20 years old, lived in Sdao 2 village, Sen San district, Steung Treng. On December 25, 2020, at 8 am, she went to the market in Steung Treng with her husband and her daughter. At midday, while her husband was giving food to her daughter, the woman told her husband that she was going to buy lotion. At 5 pm, the market was closed, and the woman had not returned, so the man took his daughter home.

The latest news says that the woman has now called her mother to say that she left to work in Phnom Penh and not to worry, while the husband still suspects that his wife has ran away with a new lover.

"The husband still suspects that his wife has ran away with a new lover".
So he obviously had his suspicion of her actions. You mention the lady bar streets, there are KTVs and massage in the sex industries.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

You're welcome to add likely candidates to the sweep. My money is still on her 'new lover' being a singlet-wearing monger

My money is on it being some local who's either just slightly or much better off than her husband. Young country girls from remote areas turning up in the capital are also prey for dodgy mama-sans who offer them a nice job then sell them to a brothel. Singlet wearing mongers barely count anymore.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
