Well I don't think men and women like all of the same places equally and are attracted to the exact same things about a country. Plus there are way way more guys on here than women, so let's remove all of the guys who are only interested in mongering from the equation--would there still be more men than women on this site? If so, my question is "why is that the case?" In other words, why do men seem to be more interested in Cambodia than women?

You might consider enlarging your sample set (the world beyond this website) if your hypothesis is one sex being "more interested" in Cambodia than the other. Seems a pretty subjective metric that really depends on the individual. If that's your yardstick, then just ask some women.

Life is full of options, why do people choose anything over all the other alternatives? Why go to the Indian restaurant instead of the Thai restaurant next door? Why buy brand X instead of brand Y?

Again, I don't think most reasons would be specific to women - everyone can be interested in the history and culture of a country, anyone can be attracted to a place where their money goes further, anyone can prefer somewhere slightly off the beaten tourist path. Whatever lead you to Cambodia instead of somewhere else probably leads women too.

One question I have seen come up a lot in places online where people are looking for information though, especially solo woman travelers, is the question of safety.

If everything else - price of tickets, ease of getting a visa, exchange rates, ability to get around speaking only English - wasn't a factor, and you wanted to see a tropical country that hadn't turned into a complete tourist trap, go to local markets, eat great food, see ancient ruins in the jungle and all that, you might find yourself looking at either South East Asia, or Central/South America.

Both could look like good options until you look into how likely it is you'll get raped, robbed, or murdered the first time you leave your hotel at night. Decision made, Cambodia it is.

I think most people, men and women, go to Cambodia for Ankor Wat. I did as did my partner and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Why go a second time? More history and an experience of Street 130 and others in PP. Not sure what ex-partner is up to; maybe she’s in Nana as I type?

Could be these women dumped their baggage in the country they are from and want to set out on new adventures.

They realized western society's most incalculably esteemed and valuable male specimens were living there, of course.

As much as some might like to believe women are somehow less inquisitive, lacking interest in the wider world, or devoid of pursuits outside Facebook marketplace and the current price of pacifiers..
