Hmm. Not sure if that is a joke, Apple are made in China...John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 11:05 amGiant is Taiwanese, Cannondale is US and Scott is Swiss. Mostly Giant, Cannondale and Scott (All chinese!).
But I’ll bite anyway!
They may have “Made in USA” or “Made in Switzerland” but I can assure you the frames and wheels are mostly made in China or Taiwan, bust mostly China. I know Giant is Taiwanese, they are the biggest manufacturer in the world and actually make frames for Scott and Cannondale and everyone else, even Trek.
In the West they “assemble” them stick some stickers on and everyone is happy they’ve bought a proper American/Swiss/Italian bike.
If they’ve got Shimano and other components (forks, seat post) made in house or from EU then it can legally be called “US made”, or whatever.
The only ones that are actually made in the West are mostly high end Carbon, Cannondale anyway.
There’s lots of info if you Google it. It’s no secret.

They are great bikes. If it’s an older one I’m not sure of the provenance.
“GT Bicycles designs and manufactures road, mountain, and bmx bicycles. GT is a division of a Canadian conglomerate, Dorel Industries, which also markets Cannondale, Schwinn, Mongoose, IronHorse, Dyno, and RoadMaster bicycle brands; all manufactured in Asia.”

What bike do you have my German neighbour?
Let me be clear. I’m not knocking any of these bikes. They are all top quality and have many years of experience. They’re just not made where you think.

It's no great mystery that western companies often have their products manufactured in Asia, it's been going on for decades. A whole lot of bikes are made here in Cambodia.

Blast from the past with an old thread for a cyclist product:
It would be interesting to know how that worked out four years later.

Our company is just about to launch a new product in the Asian market place and where looking for retailers and wholesalers
The Clug
What is the Clug you may ask:
CLUG is the world's smallest bike rack. It's the tiny minimal way to hold your bike!
It would be interesting to know how that worked out four years later.

I am well aware of globalization and do not really care where the bike has been built, as long as it is good.davegorman wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 12:01 pmBuilt by Giant in Tiawan, Unless it’s a very high end one. Even the OCLV carbon ones.

If it makes you feel better negative away.
I’m just having a discussion and if you can’t respond or deal with it don’t say stuff you know nothing about.
Sook.
