You are correct in that this is correct
It is OK to rotate the fork so the tines are in that position - peas, for example, are eaten in that manner.
However, this is only partially correct as there are two mistakes. One, holding it pen style rather than with the handle in the palm. The other mistake is holding it in the left hand.
