Why don't Europeans like spoons?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

How so? It looks OK to me, a dumb uncultured American.

Should his pinkie be sticking out? Should the fork be held upside down?

hes holding it upside down, the fork should be held with the thumb and the index finger and the forks facing down not up
hes holding his fork like a spoon

The question shouldn't be "why don't Europeans like spoons?", it should be "what do Asians have against knives?"

That's what Cambodia needs. More knives. At dinner. While drinking. Sticks are ez & cultural.
Haven't read of any chop stick stabbings. Yet.

It was the first thing I noticed, as well, that's someone holding a knife and fork totally incorrectly.

You are correct in that this is correct

It is OK to rotate the fork so the tines are in that position - peas, for example, are eaten in that manner.

However, this is only partially correct as there are two mistakes. One, holding it pen style rather than with the handle in the palm. The other mistake is holding it in the left hand. :P
