Why did the train stop

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I went on the Bamboo railway on my last visit. Great fun but a H & S nightmare, lol

Yes, if two trains (only one carriage) meet going in opposite directions, the one with teh least people has to give way. Meaning everything and everyone off, platform off bogies off and all replaced when the larger occupancy train has moved past

I never quite got how the bamboo train is a thing (that people would pay to do).

So long as battambang remains a city with Fuck all else to do the bamboo train will thrive.

Battamabang is a great place to hang for a few days and explore the region, some nice temple complex's nearby that see NO tourists, the mtn cave/temple, the nearby lake built by the KR and the ex coke plant
also some nice local restaurants in the evening on the river.

so the train line doesnt really go anywhere? like from siem reap province to battambang province? its just a pointless ride? oh :unknown: thats a little dissapointing :sorry:

i thought with the amount of locals i see using it it had some kind of purpose or commute or something not just a fairground ride/tourist attraction??

Yeah it is a bit of disused line, the locals use it but mainly now a little local cottage industry. Still good fun
