Re: Why are you here?
If you invite, you pay. If they invite they pay. Simple
Re: Why are you here?
It's a far freer country than the one I come from. Because of this, the people are also generally more pleasant to be around.
Re: Why are you here?
If you have a bicycle, and cycle around Cambodian villages, you will often go past groups of men drinking beer. If those men see a foreigner going past, 90% of the time they will shout out to the foreigner. They want to act like they are friends, so the foreigner will buy them beer.
You can have 20 groups of men shout out to you in a couple of hours.
If you spend time among the people, you begin to realize that alcohol is a huge problem in Cambodia.
You also realize, most Cambodians are lazy, and they will try any method they can to get money from foreigner

I wanted to see exotic Vietnam... the crown jewel of Southeast Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture... and kill them. I wanted to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill.

The ones you meet bumming around in villages and getting drunk in the middle of the day probably are lazy. They must have figured I'm broke though because nobody ever tries to get money from me.

This^^. in any country in the world, you go there any day during the working hours, and you are likely to see lazier people. Of course not everyone, some are retired/stay at home parents/wealthy enough to not work etc, but there is a reason most of the people are not at work at this time.John Bingham wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 1:57 pmThe ones you meet bumming around in villages and getting drunk in the middle of the day probably are lazy.
The equivalent of going into a pub before 11am and being surprised that it is full of alcoholics.

I'm here because I fell in love with the right woman in the wrong country and we're both too.old to start anew somewhere else. I hope our two kids have a better life.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.
