Why are there so many sarcastic commentators on CEO

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Why are there so many sarcastic commentators on CEO

Post by Feelgood »

That is the reason I rarely bother making any new posts these days because there are so many
people who just see their job as to sit on the side lines and trash what you have put with sarcasm.

I think of one person in particular who when I see his name, and before reading a single
word think "what kind of low IQ sarcasm is he going to write this time"

He reminds me of those two impotent old men on the Muppets, Statler and Waldorf.
And a fitting description from www. mindbounce "...Episode after Episode the two heckled
the performers, made snide comments and completely embodied the STEREOTYPE OF GRUMPY
AND OPINIONATED OLD MEN"

And to that old muppet and others like him I say for F.S. get a life!

If people are looking for humour they can go listen to Bob Hope or something.....No need to be a smartmouth, JB. Not everyone is as informed and all knowing as you are.....Couldn't agree more. Nobody needs that crap, and the OP didn't deserve it. People are taking notice!
I'm terribly sorry for upsetting you all so much, and I think your collective contributions to the forum are so essential that I will have to fall on my sword here. No more jokes, I promise, or forever ban me from this precious community. :?

Maybe set-up an extra profile to separate the funny from the funeral home business ?

love sarcasm.
BUT when you have so many here where, ( american, UK, Oz) english is not their first language, it usually is interpreted wrong, incorrectly or goes right over their heads....

What makes this forum interesting is the back and forth between the players, unless the topic is too serious for humour (eg expat passing away). Mostly the cracks and jibes are inoffensive and good natured, and as usual if something offends you, stop reading it and move on. Being offended on social media is a choice you make. However its different when someone sets out to deliver personal insults. There is a guy on the PP Bar Girls FB group who likes to argue with everything and his final words are usually "....you f***king idiot". Thst is unnecessary and bad form. But flippancy, mild sarcasm, poking the borax, if you cant take it you should stay home and turn off your internet.

I don't think so. Whenever there is a large, diverse group of people gathered in one place you will have an equally diverse range of opinions and styles (of posting).
as the last line of the old saying goes...

but you can't keep all the people happy all the time.

Also.. there's a feeling that people have a tendency to express the fact they are *Offended*.
Now, sometimes they have a right to be offended as personal attacks can and do happen..... BUT ...... witty, snarky, humorous or even sarcastic comments offending people who then post that they are offended..... I D O N ' T C A R E
toughen up or lighten up but stop telling me how you feel.

Nothing wrong with sarcasm, what disturbes me is the amount of comments that use unesessory offensive language directed at the poster in order to try snd show their superiority.
