No joke, at more than one restaurant, every street-side table had one old white man sitting there, staring at me as I walked down the busy street, sipping on their coffee. While I took note of the disproportional number of old, white single males in other Cambodian cities, it is so much more noticeable here in the capital city. "

I was walking on a Bali street with my then Indonesian partner when a woman passed me curling her lip scowling and quietly calling me a creep in my ear as she went. I'm six four in height, my partner was five feet and looked much younger than her years . I turned and launched into calm and cutting dialogue trying to educate this naive moron as to our relationship. My partner was/is a respected social worker with Red Cross who is sent to the front line of natural disasters to assist people in their recovery process, she speaks four languages and is an independent intelligent woman rather than the uneducated, desperate poor defenseless Asian girl she was imagined to be.

My partner had also had enough of these types of ignorant assholes and after I'd said my piece, she added some education of her own to this presumptuous bitch who also believed all older western men are sex creeps.

It was pretty devastating walking around Phnom Penh. Needless to say, I didn’t stay there long.

A quick look around Phnom Penh, and that confirms all that I've read about sex tourism.

That's not going to change the lady's mind at all. She'll think you're still an old white sex creep into tiny young Asian women and your girlfriend/wife is with you because Asian lady social workers are poor.

Well people's minds certainly won't be changed passively sitting by allowing these misconceptions to fester unchallenged.
