Whole Asia should be mourning i guess....

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Cambodia isn't karaoke.

I have no doubt fuckloads of fuckwits can ruin anybody's day / week / month when having no sense of self awareness or even basic politeness, but that and the location & insonorization of KTVs are the reason some hate it.

I had zero problem with karaoke in Indonesia, since they built it far away enough from housing, and since the sound / noise is kept well inside thick walls.

The same idea should apply to garages and any loud activity.

Damn, even the ladies are screaming like chainsaws to sell their noodles at unconvenient hours...maybe a lot of Cambodians are a bit deaf somehow ?

Lead soprano in the Dublin Boy Singers here. Toured Europe. Then my voice broke. Rats! Studied classical piano for 8 years, can sight read and have perfect pitch.

I'm not sure if people get bothered much by the big KTVs, they are built like bunkers and I don't think you can hear much from outside. The impromptu ones people set up in the neighbourhood for parties are more of an annoyance. The neighbours across the street who I know well for years have a restaurant. Sometimes when it's closed they do karaoke. They have this weird idea that their younger son (15 years old)is a great singer. Hearing him mangle a Whitney Houston song is aural terrorism. I have to admit he's not as bad as the drunken old guys or squealing women I sometimes hear though. Anyway I don't get bothered by it much as it's usually a quiet neighbourhood at night. 8)

insonorization?
FFS! If you'd written soundproofing, I wouldn't have had to Google it. LoL
Anyway, it's spelled insonorisation.
unconvenient? Surely you mean inconvenient.

Well, between "smartass" "Ffs" and "lol" you do sound like a dick, with or without soundproofing, but with a broken voice, i'll give you that.
Good for you ^^

I can imagine Squeaky Dave having a go at The Doors (When The Music's Over) at his local KTV, should go like this :

He he. I'll swap 'sounding like a dick' for writing like a semi literate pussy any day. Basso profondo now, perhaps aided by 45 years of smoking. Squeaky as a foghorn.
You? Castrato?
(Google it, douchebag!)
Mixing it up over here 😜

Castrato is castrat in Frog, i don't need Google ^^..., i'm a Frog, Farinhello ? (That's a nice movie pun, see if you can spot it ^^).

I'd take Castrato music any day, who listen to foghorns ?
Seagulls and migrants, what an audience ^^

A foghorn in a karaoke, imagine that anyway....not a big loss, except for hearing ^^
