Who knows about this school closure?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

My other half went and bought a months worth of food "in case people go crazy like siam reap and everything gets expensive"
Where are you located ? I might have to go out and buy the rest of the food available.

More seriously, this disproportionate panic buying is ridiculous, but very human. (Officially only 1 person has coronavirus in Cambodia, imagine if the real statistics were released.)
At least in Cambodia there should not be a run on toilet paper. (Excuse the pun.)

Kampot.

Normal prices here, but people can become greedy, so she's probably onto something.

there will be problems if shops and markets decide not to open

it's now the rational choice to stock up a little, if not already done so over the last few weeks
as with the joke about two guys and a lion:
Two guys in a jungle come around a corner and meet a lion head-on pawing the ground.
One guy ever so carefully reaches into his knapsack and slowly takes out a set of running shoes, never once breaking eye contact with the lion.
The second guy hisses: "What are you doing, you can't outrun the lion" And the first guy says: "No, but all I have to do is outrun you"!

Well... What would you expect from a population as highly educated as the Cambodians?

And of the course the massive information campaigns about what to do and not to do if the virus has come has helped a lot in preventing all the panic. :stir:
