Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. White Guy For Hire: Social Events

Post by Sir_Quality_U_Feel »

I know there have been articles out there about young white males who are basically hired and paid to attend social functions like birthday parties and weddings. This practice was focused in Asia, mainly China. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of some Ultra rich Khmer or other S.E. Asian individual basically paying a white, well mannered and well groomed barrang to mingle around their party?

I think S.E. Asia isn't nearly the same as some parts of China. If you lived in China, would you make some extra cash by attending a social gathering and just smiling and being white skinned?

It could be bullshit, but a couple years ago, a friend of mine told me a friend of his was paid to put on a suit go to a company's monthly meetings down here in Snook. It's all in Khmer and he just sticks in his earbuds, cranks his music, & reads a book.

In Cambodia it seems more common for white people to be invited to weddings so they can pay, not be paid.
Payback in Klang :D
