Where have you been and would recomend to others

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Anyone been to Argentina? Their currency has been hit hard lately by rumours of yet another default on gov't debt repayment. I've read that the black market for US dollars gets you nearly 14 pesos (8.2 at the official exchange rate).

I hear a lot of shit talked on it (including people warning me before I went) but we really had a nice time there. Cheap street food and a little "refresher" of western living without the chaos that is Bangkok. Sure... some like the chaos, I get that. But for a decent calm trip with some shopping, eating, and even a fun day at a pretty cool water park/amusement park it was great. The wife fell in love with the monorail, even learning how to manage using it all on her own while I was working or sleeping. Found a decent guesthouse ("Crossroads") right next to the Chow Kit station and so had cheap access to most of the city right out the front door.

Bars, the few times we went, were fun but not too "over the top". All in all a pretty relaxed and laid back place. And the Chinatown market was a lot of fun for souvineer shopping/etc.
Just took the girlfriend in July and had a great time in KL. I really like that city In relation to short holidays spent there. I could maybe live there 1 year, if I had to.

Penang! +3kg every time.
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

Go to Addis..............it is a poor man's Brazil. It is what Cambodia was in the 90's..............super fun, and you could pretend you were in a very risky place. It is awesome............and it is not packaged up for you like it is in S.E. Asia. There are no tourists, it is safe to walk the streets day or night..........and it is a puzzle you have to unlock.

The people are insanely friendly. The women are incredible. The coffee is the best on Earth. And it is fun, fun, fun.

what is ur criteria for "stayed in"

everyone of ur "not going back" are some of the places i find the most interesting (excluding Germany)

i stayed there, some weeks or longer.

india nepal sri lanka are so poor, that life conditions suck 100%.
this applies to food shopping, restaurants, and whatever else you may need are want to do in daily life.
they are fuck poor and suck in every imaginable aspect of life.

germany is a must see for all fans of medieval castles and fortresses :)
but thats it.

so what are you doing haunting a Cambodia forum? if not going back. And why would you go to Thailand for laptop shopping? you're not going back to Laos, Cambodia, n so on and all your TO DO list seems mediteranean, I'm puzzled. You live in Myanmar maybe?

LoL! Good point about going back to Cambodia, just for laptop shopping. Seems odd, especially if you won't be enjoying your time there too.

But lurkers/posters that aren't coming back to Cambodia are more than welcome to participate here!
