When are you too old to be a backpacker ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

You are too old to call yourself a backpacker if you use suitcases or worse yet use one of those devices equipped with wheels that you pull behind you like a recalcitrant child.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Unless you're a Cambodian expat, then it's the new 60 according to Cam Nivag.

Exactly, one pair of underpants, a lunghi and a t-shirt. Possibly a Leica too if you're into that sort of thing. NO SHOES!

Nope, not true - if it's reasonably new soap they'll steal it and give it ironically to another backpacker as a gag birthday gift.

Backpacking, defined, form of low-cost, independent travel. Done the trips. Dislike the meaning low cost, have enough money to enjoy your travels.

You're too old to be a backpacker when you stop taking busses and become smart enough to realize wheels are efficient; and in SE Asia, IF you shop around, $20/night will get you 3-4-star, air conditioned accommodation with a pool and a buffet breakfast on or near the beach.
You could be next.
