back OT i was in Pattaya about 3 years ago and it was overrun with cute girls in droves, hanging around with 6 or 7 similarly unoccupied girls.
i did not try to meet any being otherwise engaged.
but maybe i am a half full glass kinda guy.

theres still loads of cute girls in Pattaya, its plagued with them,
a far greater number of cute girls there than there is in the bars of Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh combined,
and thats coming from someone who prefers Khmer girls so im not even being bias

We knew it would be busy but it was the only time he was free so I just tagged along. So sure, it theoretically should be busier with tons of tourists, but there should be even more girls. That's the money-making time...

Different strokes for different folks, but I found them unanimously hideous. As in a 1-100 ratio of hot to ugly, whereas here I see cute girls all the time. Here's the deal: I tagged along as his wingman for the duration. However, of course I'm not going to sit alone in the corner for four days. If I'm going to be just sitting there sipping drinks while he's trying to pick up, I want to at least be with an attractive girl (preferably someone interesting so we can chat, laugh and have a good time). So we go looking for bars that'll have a girl each of us likes/finds attractive. It was nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find a bar that had TWO nice looking girls. Many bars (50-60%) had NONE, and then the remaining 40% would only have ONE hot girl. So either I would find a girl attractive but he wouldn't, or the opposite (or quite often we both found the same girl attractive as there was only one). We walked up and down Soi 6 until it got embarrassing and the girls frowned (back and forth like 4 times, trying to carefully look into every single bar). That beer garden soi as well, the alleys off walking street, soi LK etc. The only places that were halfway decent were Windmill and one or two of the gogo bars on LK. We must have visited, looked inside or walked past 150+ bars, so something is definitely amiss... I've said this before, but it felt like a prostitute elephant graveyard. Like where all the old hags go to finish off their days so they don't weaken or slow down the tribe. I've been to Nana twice very briefly just for a few drinks, but the girls there were waaaay hotter than in Pattaya. I say this as someone who likes older chicks too, I've never been into the young 19-23 yer olds, even when I was that age. I like 25+... Many I just didn't find my type or my standards are way higher than most guys, I don't know. It boils down to personal preference I guess. I've always liked classier looking girls anyways (even if faked). Like the type that hang out at Oscar and such places in PP and have a sense of style and so on vs chicks with 10" platform heels, a miniskirt too much makeup and are all tatted up. Seems like 40% of the girls there are tatted (some of them had very nice work, but not my style). I dunno, just saying what it was like for me. But seriously, I see probably 30 hot girls per day here, had trouble seeing a single hot one per day there. Will definitely never go back. By day two I was looking at pamphlets for motorcycle tours and the big waterpark out of town.

I must have just caught the rag fumes of em it back in 2010 on my first tour , the whole regions changing for the worst.

yeah as you say, different strokes for different folks,
i was last there end of May for 2 weeks, it was quiet, but i prefer that as less riff raff,
a lot of the high season girls had already gone back home to Isaan,
still, there were plenty of girls around, i love the Isaan girls, they get extra attention if they can speak Khmer lol
i stay on the Corner of LK Metro/Soi Diana, so might be why i see more hotter girls,
but there is usually at least 1 girl in every bar that takes my fancy,
but i admit im easily pleased, a girl with french plait pig tails or braces or dimples or all 3 can easily get my attention... Bolueeleh knows hahaha

while girls are a main factor, i like going out drinking and partying, i dont go round shopping, i dont usually need to, things just fall in to place,
planned nights are dull, maybe thats where you and your mate are going wrong,
just go out and enjoy yourself, then you might bump into more girls that take your fancy

and drinking is miles cheaper than in Bangkok!!
Soi Cowboy in the normal rock bar on the corner 175 Baht for a small bottle of Chang!
Scooters bar down Soi 6 in Patts is only 50 Baht
the Gogos down LK Metro have great happy hours

Yea, was in Phuket many Years ago, just a few days. Even then it was too expensive. Mind you i've heard that because of that many young dudes are actually pulling the girls in the discos. Maybe free like home?

What about 'ordinary girls', are ordinary girls in Bangkok difficult, if you speak some Thai, for example, or what if you don't? I mean stating the obvious, if the girl likes a man, that's a gamechanger, but obviously in places like Pattaya which is basically a big you know what, it's peobably 'not normal', not to pay, right?
