Re: What do you see?
Yep, it was a drunken, drugged out, shaven headed, middle aged sexpat wearing a wifebeater, cargo shorts, flip flops and a footy beanie trying his luck with some tarts along the river.
No, actually it was me talking to my sister in law and two of her friends. They occasionally head to the river to use the exercise gear after they finish work in the evening. I run into them sometimes as I walk along there regularly and we have a chat and once in a while a beer. Okay, I was wearing cargo shorts.
It sort of amuses me to get the 'look' from passers by, it also saddens me that people judge the book by its cover.

The wifebeater speaks louder than words.

So older guys can't talk to younger girls without being judged.
And younger girls can't talk to older guys without being assumed of having a motive.
Hmmmmm... People assume too much nowadays

That sounds reasonable enough, but nearly all that exercise gear is broken now.Joker Poker wrote:They occasionally head to the river to use the exercise gear after they finish work in the evening.
Personally I wouldn't read too much into it. As I sat at a riverside restaurant today I did, however, remark on the disgusted-looking faces of many of the tourists passing by. I can only imagine that they've been reading all the bad reports out of Phnom Penh and are seeing what they want to see, rather than what is actually there.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
Re: What do you see?
Yes, people see what they want to see...they travel thousands of miles in order to verify preconceptions implanted into their innocent brains by the media ........that's actually a paradox.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Nah, most of it is still good JB.John Bingham wrote:That sounds reasonable enough, but nearly all that exercise gear is broken now.Joker Poker wrote:They occasionally head to the river to use the exercise gear after they finish work in the evening.
Of the 8 apparatus that have moving parts, only 1 is unusable, one other thing designed for 3 people to use can only support 2 now.
Perhaps as far back as last year the bushes/bearings were replaced on the thing that is currently unusable but it only lasted about 6 months until it was cactus again.
Not sure where the stuff was made, but most of it is holding up pretty well considering the hammering it gets.
