What's New ,since last May?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Unless you have a thing for Chinese men in hardhats and JCBs there's no point coming for the next two years

Funny you should say that -
Last summer, I was living in China getting ready to retire. I went to Snooky & Kampot to check out the rental housing situation. When I got to Snooky, I thought I was in Macao! I checked out some condo developments that looked good online (like Blue Bay)... but when I walked into the sales/display office, I found out they're Chinese. When I got to Kampot, I found out there weren't many places to rent (long term) and prices were skyrocketing. I moved on to Phu Quoc and 'fell in love'.

I went back to China, finished my contract, got a one-year Vietnam visa (easy) and flew to PQ last Wednesday. I'm here for four weeks looking for a place to rent. If I can't find anything suitable (PQ is mostly geared to tourists) I'll move on to Vung Tau where there are lots of one bedroom apartments with an ocean view and a pool from $300 per month.

I always kind of liked Vung Tau. Not much to do, but it's a half way decent beach reasonably close to Saigon and pretty cheap.

I you thought Kampot was boring, you certainly won't like Kep (It makes Kampot seem like Vegas).
