What local should do to get their salary equally with expat?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I'm trying to visualize how that works. I was kind of hoping it was sewing into your leg hair, like a weave for the legs.

Lmao!!! No, they remove the hair with thread - they twist it between their fingers and it pulls the hair. Hurts like a son of a bitch though but looks better and lasts longer than shaving :)

Hurts just thinking about it. I had a small section of my legs waxed once. That was painful but this sounds worse.

All was going well until she got about halfway through the first leg and had to go.
Nobody could explain what was going on and she just packed up and left. In the west that just wouldn't happen.
I was left mind boggled, still don't know why she had to leave.
So, has she come back yet ?

@MM, a couple years ago the removing hair with thread had been practising almost everywhere in the country mostly in the rural areas where you barely can't find a proper salon parlour. For the recent day you wouldn't be able to see it, as everyone might prefer going to salon parlour and have waxing.

Salaries are low in Cambodia because skills are low. There is also inherent greed on the part of land owners and politicians/police that sucks up a lot of the money that might otherwise find its way into your pocket. If your boss has to pay exorbitant rent, that's less money they can pay you. Assuming of course that your boss gives 2 shits about you. Not too common here.

On a larger scale you can see how most foreign aid finds its way into private bank accounts, instead of going towards developing the country. It's a shit fight.

I was eating at boat noodle restaurant. This is one my favorite restaurant in Phnom Penh, but just recently staff there made me not want to come eating there again.
I asked three different staff to bring me a glass of tea every 3 minutes, none of them gave a shit about my request. They were walking and talking to each other instead of bringing me tea until I talked to the owner. So, they deserve that absolutely low salary.

But maybe they would work harder if they weren't paid so poorly?
