That was a well thought out plan....
It'll be better when it's back in its derelict state covered in moss.All a bit sad really
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Where are all those busloads of Chinese tourists ? There was a huge development planned up there. Is it going ahead ?
Thanks for the photos btw kgbagent. The change in that place over a few years is incredible. From ruin back to ruin. I preferred it like that anyway.

Most tourist busses up there are full of Viet tourists - they walk in the casino and walk out 5 mins later. Possibly the busiest place is the wat up there which is pretty coolAnchor Moy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 12:58 pm Where are all those busloads of Chinese tourists ? All the solid concrete roads in the depression to the right hand side at the top are in great shape but nothing being built except renewed progress on the big Scandanavian apartments by the main road
I also preferred the ruins

Does Sok Kong still own the concession and private buildings up there, or has some been sold to other interests ?

I've heard that the existing casino and adjoining hotel is to be leased, presumably to Chinese parties.offroadscholar wrote:Does Sok Kong still own the concession and private buildings up there, or has some been sold to other interests ?
Hence the speed of construction of another huge casino hotel which I will post pics of soon

making the news;

Kampot, known as a sleepy provincial town for so long, is rapidly shedding that image. Once known as the town with “nothing to do,” Kampot is now a vibrant destination with a whole range of food and entertainment options.
.....The food scene in Kampot is another feature which has seen much improvement over the last 2-3 years. Outside of the obligatory 32,000 happy pizza places found in any Cambodian tourist destination,

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Agree, besides the part where it says Le Bokor Palace is understaffed, went to eat there with some guests last week and 3 staff constantly were hovering over our table which made me very uncomfortable. If they were well trained maybe I wouldn't mind but after repeating our order 3 times they still managed to bring out the wrong starter for one of us. I was then in turn made to feel bad because the head somelier berated the girl taking the order right next to us. The food was good but for these prices you expect a different experience.kgbagent wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 7:46 pmReasonably accuratephuketrichard wrote:making the news;
