Not down there but Bokor has slowly been simmering a while now. Magic Lake was a pleasant addition, if a bit further along the developing roads.
Guess we'll have to wait for Q3 2018 until it really takes off. No major names there yet. Maybe Chinese?
Problem is gravity, and overladen trucks trying to climb that hill everyday. Not cheap, takes a few hours each way.
Casino refurb with history would be nice. But they could ruin it, too. We'll see.

Melvin Udall: Never, never, interrupt me, okay?
Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.
Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

Its totally intolerable. how dare the Cambodians inconvenience foreigners by enforcing the law. Whatever next.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

To be fair the polis, unlike their Snooky counterparts, have been targeting all and sundry. I saw one motodop looking dude on a totally unroadworthy bike have his wife nicked for not having her helmet strap secured. He sat there mouthing off at the cops so they confiscated his bike as well.

@SmartAston Martin
The new hotel looks like it will retain its charm from what I have seen - however they could yet paint it lurid pink. It is meant to be open for guests in May this year. Quite a stunning building and I am glad that i got to it when it was just a shell - it smelt of history and that will be lost now.
Construction is serious when they start a concrete producing factory on the plains towards the waterfalls. Also a couple of small factories for assembling the alloy beams etc. Surprisingly there are very few trucks going up the hill during daylight but a friend who looks up towards the road says he does see some night traffic most nights.
On weekends and public holidays you see a lot of tour bus' with mainly Asian visitors. Khmer, Chinese and Viet tour groups.
There is a large community of Chinese living up there and I am pretty sure they are working - at lunchtime you see small groups of them walking around. Some very big comms towers are nearby and I guess a lot of the online gaming stuff is operating there. If a police raid is coming all they need is one lookout at the bottom gate and they have 23km to hide stuff before the coppers arrive.

You live up to your name with comments like that
No reason why they cannot coexist and the flashpackers are injecting some serious money into the local economy. History would tell you that other countries that have a lot of Chinese tourism inevitably find that all the money spent by Chinese tourists end up in Chinese owned entities. They stay at Chinese owned hotels; eat at Chinese owned restaurants; travel in Chinese owned bus and tour operators and arrive and depart on Chinese owned airlines.
Thailand is an oft cited example but you will find the same complaints in NZ and Oz as well.
