When you say $5 to $10 a day how many customers would you then estimate they have during the day? And would that be without expenses such a gas, loans and maintenance?
Just seem strange my friend says they could earn like 400 bucks a month.
Nothing strange about that. He's making it sound convincing enough that you will buy a tuk-tuk. BeLIEve me when I say you are better off buying a bar,,, for him , it could earn $10,00 a month.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

Also, the Khmer concept of 'earn' is often different to an accounting definition of earn. 'Earn' here means the gross physical money that is handed to me, it does NOT account for annoyances such as running costs, loans, tuktuk hire...Duncan wrote:h0pp3 wrote:@ Duncan

If if ever was to invest in the "tuk tuk business" I wouldn't just buy one - but I get your point. On side a side note, a Cambodian acquaintance of mine once told be it would cost 5,000 USD to start up a bar. Would you consider that a reliable amount?
@ Stroppy
Yeah, I got that impression too.

What type of bar and where? I think $5,000 would be enough to start a hole in the wall in plenty of places outside Phnom Penh.

Well, I was thinking about PP or maybe Snooky. Preferable PP. But not a hole in the wall bar - neither an especially extravagant one. Just a regular joint showing lots of sport, but not with a theme as clear-cut as Score!. Also, I don't know wether it should be a hostess bar or not since I'm not 100% sure about the pros and cons regarding such bars.
Anyway, it's just a possible future project. I have other prioritize at the moment. However, I'd love to hear inputs

How much do they rent the tuk tuk for per day, and does the rate include the moto or do they rent a chariot to attach to their own motos?StroppyChops wrote:Almost impossible to accurately calculate what they make though as most hire their tuktuk daily from a minor 'boss', or have a loan from a loan shark to pay it off.
