So what business idea is a GOOD one?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The date palms are an amusing hobby and that's all.

When I first came here as a tourist, just after the publication of OFF THE RAILS IN PHNOM PENH,
I heard of Westerners growing Amsterdam-class marijuana semi-commercially on a balcony
(this was at a time when everyone was far more fearless / reckless, casual and open about
weed) and I've occasionally wondered whether some brave soul with good security and a
secure supply chain is doing the same.

I hate tile as it bounces sound all around and you can fall on your butt when it gets a little water on it. A nice area carpet looks good over the cheap tile. I got a medium piece of carpet from the 2nd hand store in Snookyville and a small piece from the fabric shop by the big market, but nothing very big.
Not many buyers for carpet out there is it is not really suitable in the humid SE climate....

Anything new and profitable will be copied and/or taken over.
As a foreigner unless you have some incredible and unique talent of qualification your chances are slim to none.
They best way to run a business here is to have lots of money and run it as a hobby to have something to do and pay for it out of you own pocket instead of relying on making a profit.
