What are some good and bad names for a half Cambodian baby?

My wife is pregnant. We don't know if it will be a boy or a girl yet.

I'm guessing "Ian" is a bad name for a boy because it means "shy."
"Jake" means banana, and my wife says it also means something like gay, so that's out.
Apparently "Leo" is no good, it's slang for underwear?

Any name ending in an "s" sound is probably a no go, since Khmers won't pronounce it correctly.

I think "Lina" is a good name if it's a girl, because it's both a Western and Cambodian name.

I used to hang around Larry's and there was a young mixed race boy named "Gino" and every time I heard the girls say "Gino! Gino!" I thought they were saying "jew nom" which means urinate.

The child may be raised back in the West so I don't want a name that's too Cambodian, like Sreymom or Samnang.

I am 3 weeks shy of having a son. I want a Lao name but the mother is set on falang but she is limited to celebrity names like Brad or Keanu. No chance.

I think if you name a child Thyda and take her to your home country everyone will call her "thee-da"

And Sopheap would be "So - fee -ap"

After many months preparation and anticipation, my imagination leapt into action, and my lad narrowly escaped being called ‘Up to you’.

I’d always liked the name Joshua, and in the absence of further input from SWMBO, he was so named.
I admit to a certain perverse amusement as nobody, especially Khmer relatives, are allowed to use his short name or initials until they have made an adequate attempt (judged by me) to say his name properly.
Remember the movie Fletch, with Chevy chase confusing everyone?

His (Josh’s) sister had issues pronouncing his name. As do a good few others. I would open a beer and watch while this resulted in tongue tied individuals.

Some just look at me with a pained expression.

My son is called Edward, people don't seem to have a problem pronouncing it, especially if they abbreviate it to Eddie. Just avoid anything that ends in an S, or contains a th (like Theo), or a hard V sound (which will be turned into a w).

Lisa and Rina are both common girl's names both here and in the west (Lisa more than Rina). I can't think of any boy's names that fit the same criteria.

Surely the name dependson where the child isgoing to wind up living. I would choose a khmer name that is close to a falang name or can be shortened as a nickname in thewest.
Khmer can pronounce David, john, steve for boys. Lisa works as above, anita or go veh=gan and try apple

Day-wid and Stee-yoo are not barang names I would recommend that are easily pronounced by Khmers. John? Yep, safe as houses. Luke might also be a safe option.
