Westerners who are Psychopaths

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Psychopath, or sociopath?
From my limited understanding of this, there are many shared traits. But trying to state that someone is one thing or another is fraught with risk. Psychopathic tendencies don’t necessarily lead to full on psychopthic behaviour, etc.

Someone once said during a course that all psychopaths are sociopaths, but not all sociopaths are psychopaths. (Generally)
I once had a colleague whose behaviour was so antisocial and bizarre, we (the rest of us at that base) did wonder whether he might have the capacity to progress from the sociopathic to psychopthic.

And before anyone asks.... No, I'm not a nutter,
I guess everyone will have their own ideas as to what constitutes being 'nutty as a fruit cake' or 'a bit cuckoo'... :whistler:

Someone who starts threads but is too paranoid to answer questions yet compulsively upvotes everything said.
LOL. Can I have another upvote please, OP?

As per clutchcargo, I am the most “Psycho” of anyone on this forum, or in this country. I challenge anyone to say otherwise to my mother.

There are different definitions of psychopath. You could probably classify those who dont pay their bill, but do a runner, as psychopaths.

You will also meet many good people.
Yes, of course. However I'm referring to a special category of person, the Psychopath.
If 1% of westerners are pschopaths and they tend to move to cambodia/asia it may be to meet more pschopaths because judging by the numbe rof hackings, stabbing clubbings and burnings that take place here with such a small population I would say there are a much higher percentage of Khmer pschopaths in Cambodia than 1%

What draws men here to Cambodia specifically, is a very great question to ask. It's not hard to figure out we are different, and we are different and colorful for as many reasons as you can imagine. I am sure psychopath could make the list, however IMHO, it wouldn't be near the top.

Just a couple off the top of my head. I am not putting the obvious sexpat in there, because I think that is too stereotypical.

I came because I was uninspired and disenchanted with the western world. I wanted to go someplace as far as possible from it, turn my life on its head, and see if I could look back to where I was with any sense of appreciation.

All I did was find a place full of fascination and intrigue where I will never belong, and in doing so, changed myself enough that I will never belong at 'home' anymore either.

p.s. It is true that in the expat/traveler to Cambodia demographic, there are more weirdo's, misfits, addicts, con artists, ex cons, mentally ill, and so on and so forth. It almost goes without saying.

That's Hollywood, and those are actors. I'm a Vietnam Era Veteran. My basic training did include a real drill sergeant in my face, and I respected him.
Have you served in your home country's military, Mr. Jamie_Lambo?

Just wondering, :)

Very good comment, Mr Freightdog.

Thanks,
