Weird stuff you do that you think others do not...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

makes sense...all lined up the same way you can see the denomination at the outside corner. I'm REAL sure to do it this way with baht or riel.

Not sure about you but wank and mum are not two words that I've ever used or thought of in such a context.

I do that too. I rarely carry a wallet these days but the fold of notes in my pocket has to be sorted - unless I'm pissed - I'm always surprised by the depressing looking things that come out of my pocket the next morning, like 1000 riel notes that look like a motodop wiped his arse on them.

SC, try this method to get rid of the ants, works perfectly.

Ant Killer

WHAT YOU NEED:

1 empty water bottle
(Cut it down to about 2" tall)
5 Tbsp of baking soda
5 Tbsp of powdered sugar
3 Tbsp of water.

The very best way of eliminating ants is truly simple:

Take a small amount of powdered sugar (also called icing sugar) and mix it with an equal amount of baking soda (formally called sodium bicarbonate) and water.
Powdered sugar is essential. You cannot use the larger grains of sugar for this..

Mix the two powders together and then place small amounts against the walls or other areas where you would not normally walk but where you would normally see the ants.

The ants will be attracted to the sugar and will eat some of it and collect more to take home to feed others, so all of them will get their share.

The sugar and baking soda powders are similar in size and, once mixed together, the ants cannot separate the two items, so, as they eat the sugar, they will also ingest the baking soda, which they would otherwise never touch. This is the reason for using powdered sugar.

Once the ants eat the baking soda it will react with the formic acid in their stomachs and cause gas. The bodies of ants are unlike humans and they cannot eliminate gas so it will build up inside and eliminate them.

borax works very well too provided you mill it down a bit.

and to those of you flushing your soup down the toilet, I used to do it also until my missus told me to use it to water the plants. Pass the soup through a sieve to get rid of any chunks, let it cool overnight and then use it to water vegetables, flowers, pot plants...I have seen a massive improvement in all of our plants since starting to do this.

And in order from smallest to largest, and in Cambodia, riel separate from dollars in two different pockets. I also only carry "clean" bills in my wallet for fear of where the dirty bills have been.

The sugar/baking soda idea has been suggested to me before - the thought of the little bastards farting themselves to death definitely appeals. I'm not sure what effect borax would have on Bong Ch'mar so we might save that one for last. Mrs Stroppy actually found this tip in her big book of everything this morning.
