GM; on ur way home , stop by

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I was stuck there recently with an 8 hour transit at night time, wasn't worth leaving the airport. Had to buy duty-free liquor and mixers from a restaurant so that I could sneakily have a tipple :beer1:

They are currently constructing a new terminal, not sure when that'll be ready though. Hopefully there will be somewhere to grab a beer in the new terminal.
I've had several 12 hour stopovers there. I think the new terminal should be done by now. I think it was scheduled for partial completion in Sept 2013, but I flew in Jan 2014 and they were still using the old terminal. I think most flights have been diverted to the new one by now... I would hope so because that terminal sucks big time. And not just because of the lack of booze.

Yea, judging from GMs post and picture, it appears the new terminal, or at least part of, is now open and operational. That old terminal was a pretty shite place to be stuck for long transits.

Flew through it 3 weeks ago from London en route to Bangkok. The best thing for me is free unlimited wifi which helps pass the time on the long layovers. In the UK and Bangkok they still only give you a stingy 1 hour allowance. Maybe it's just me but the central, area where things like the restaurants and shops are seems a bit of a disjointed layout. My overriding impression passing through is always how grossly fat and unhealthy Arabs look. Diabetes must be rife there. Needless to say Burger King was buzzing.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Yeah that old terminal was crap. Only like four sockets to charge phones/laptops. I would literally walk around in circles for hours... And it only takes like 6-7 minutes to walk around the whole place. Not even enough chairs during "rush hour" either. People napping in the mosque... I would have gone for a nap there too, but it seemed a bit culturally insensitive (even though the locals were doing it). The best thing about Qatar is the free sporting equipment allowance.
