Warning on social media of Phnom Penh scam/robbery.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The most I can get out on my UK bank card is $400 a day. Would have thought a German visa card would be similar. My credit cad has an even lower limit, you can't take a big cash lump out.

Is it this woman by any chance.... or another than has a speech impediment. They have been running this scam for years. 2012 I was outside central market and approached and after talking for about 20 minutes I sensed a scam. Why was she here... why was she so interested in me. My spider sense told me so and I knew she was Filipino not Thai as she claimed to be. I can speak a little Thai and when she said she qas from Thailand and I spoke Thai she said ahe couldnt understand my pronounciation. After i did a google search and found that there is a group of filipinos in phnom penh that lure you to their home feed you and then scam the hell out of you either through a rigged blackjack game or rinsing your ATM cards.

Be careful and remember not to trust strangers who you just met in the steeet. You Mothers told you not to take candy.

I too, have had my suspicions from the very beginning. JB stated a plausible reason for her reluctance to report the crime to the police when he surmised that, " is probably aware of the police's poor reputation when dealing with reported crimes."
However if thieves took "every thing I had" as the victim stated, I would nonetheless take a chance.
Also as JB stated the possibility of a CCTV exists and bank computers could verify both the fact of withdrawals and the amount. Whether she was scammed or is running a scam cannot be verified until a third party investigates.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Perhaps multiple cards? She should report it so CCTV can identify the perps. Obviously Filipino.

Old thread, but I can pull up to 4,000 on one card and up to 2,000 on the other.
