Walking the Riverside

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. I bought a tazer from an undisclosed source, pepper spray from uCare, and brass knuckles are available in any configuration from psaar TTP (and others) - can't be too heavily policed. I did learn from someone in a position to know that the police had their pepper sprays withdrawn from use as the mix was so strong that officers were being caught up in the cloud and being incapacitated by the non-air environment. That's some harsh pepper spray.

just carry a baseball bat or cricket stick
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Might as well bump this thread.

Walked down to Titanic as usual about an hour and a half ago and noticed that there were a lot of, shall we say, quirky westerners hanging around, hippies, the usual French pensioner contingent, lots of girls making eye contact :), as well as an obvious bunch of farm boys that have blown in. Nothing wrong with that.

Heading back the other way up near to FCC I wasn't really watching in front too much as it was interesting to see the goings on down below on the river. Anyway, I spotted a woman who was about to bang into me, she was doing the local thing of doing without first looking. I dodged her and righted myself when a policeman grabbed my arm and a second one pushed me in the chest - just enough to push me to the wall, not a word was spoken. They were making way for a party of about 20 military officers, men dressed in civvies and others dressed in Mao-suits. I instantly recognised the one in the middle, a very high ranked military man/politician - way too important to name (sorry Andy).

Whilst I thought it was good that there were no visible guns present, I just felt that their PR folk need to work on this just a tad.

Good bump.

When you say a "party", what did it look like they were doing?

I got similar treatment on the other side of the river once. I parked my motto and was on the boardwalk and whipped out my camera. As soon as i did a goon came over and started making me back up and motioning me to put my camera away. Didn't want me taking pictures of a certain group/family.

Needless to say, I then WANTED to take pictures of said group, which i did, LoL. And then I noticed all the Lexuses with military plates where i parked.

What about a shark bang stick?

Or, The “WASP Injector Knife” ($400) secrets a CO2 canister in the handle which, when a small button on the hilt is triggered, injects a blast of 850psi gas through a channel in the knife’s blade, inflating the target with a painful and debilitating pocket of gaseous pain.
From their product description page:
This weapon injects a frozen ball of compressed gas approximately the size of a basketball at 850psi nearly instantly. The effects of this injection will drop many of the world’s largest land predators. The effects of the compressed gas not only cause over-inflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea. When used underwater, the injected gas carries the predator to the surface BEFORE blood is released into the water. Thus giving the diver added protection by diverting other potential predators to the surface.

This can be improvised with a CO2 Tire Inflator ($20) and needle valve attachment.
