Seems a bit fckd up for those of us with families (with or without marriage certs), who happen to be between jobs.

Yup. I just took the risk in getting the 6 month EG and hope the rules change again (which is very likely in Cambodia) before he 6 months is up.

If they don’t I have no idea what I’m going to do....

I know the feeling (well, not the married part). I'm going to try for an ER on the basis of the income I receive from Australia. Failing that I'll be reduced to tourist visas, extensions and border runs. I need to dispose of a certain asset before I can leave the KOW, but the market is pretty dead. :(

When that 6 months EG expired do you;
Have no problem just get another via agent? (doubtful) Or
Have to leave country, clock back in with Ordinary visa then get EG?
Do the the latter no choice option over and over again and continue getting this EG, or will there be a limit on how many you can have?
I think only time will tell!
wanna bet by next year, max will be 1 EG, no work, go home :stir:
+ they will have a marriage extension for those UNDER retirement age but married to a local, ( although cant see how most under retirement age and married can afford to stay in Cambodia and NOT work )

Excuse my ignorance, but what difference does this make? Exit, return, a one year visa. No problem, if you have $300 and a WP, right?

Okay, I'll excuse your ignorance. As kiwi said above, I'm between jobs. I don't have a WP atm because I am not employed.

Before my visa comes due in a few months, I have a choice of:
- find a job and get a WP;
- start a business and have a business licence; or
- suck it up!

Even without a job or business, I will still be a father. Though, I guess that doesn't count for much these days.

That is one massive hole in the system - that's really tough mate.

Kinda related, anyone know what's happening about EOS for non-working expat spouses this year? I think the writing is on the wall, and that non-working spouses will eventually have to pay for furphy work permits including back payments - curious to know if anyone's heard anything concrete?

Maybe slightly off topic,

was in PP last days and stopped by Lucky Lucky to get a 3 months Vietnam Visa, asked her what I should do since I'm on a EB visa here already almost 4 years but I'm not working and too young to get a Retirement visa, she told me not to worry, after the elections the rules will change again. So since I'm not of the worrying kind that's what I'll do. (3 months Vietnam multiple entry is $85 btw, no paperwork required)
just noise, white noise
