A Very Sad Expat Story in Kampot - BUT with Happy Ending

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

^this.

Buying something you consider your own investment while it's legally in someone else's name.
In a foreign country.
When you don't speake the language.
When you don't know your way around the legal system.
Where the legal system is questionable at least.

Would he have done the same back home? It's just sad.

This is what astonishes me. If it's not in your name, you don't own it. End of story.

A long lease is no more than a legal claim against the building's owner to bugger off for a period of time and leave you in peace, and it's pre-paid too, so you have assumed all the risk.

If there is: (a) no reliable legal system in place to enforce it and; (b) the government have no respect for property rights of individuals - especially foreigners - then you have political risk thrown into the mix.

There's a property boom going on in lots of places in the world where the (a) and (b) criteria above are satisfied. Cambodia fails them both.

Hard to imagine she's not totally nuts. She certainly sounds like she's be the abusive one in any relationship, so I pity these unfortunate men getting involved with her.
This Chara would be right at home as an Aussie bogan.. :fingerwave:

Dont look like Chara.

Look more like she got relatives in the states and keep posting shit from all fake accounts to seem trustworthy.

Anyone else who think her husband simply geting paid for this so she can obtain citizenship?

I love how she's posting in full Khmer on her liquor "packge" that's based in fucking Mississippi.

Also, can't tell if this is just some elaborate ruse or what but that girl definitely isn't her, she just got her J&J vaccine a day go in Kampot..

She posted a few weeks ago that she has a twin sister in the USA who looks a lot like her.

The sister and her husband live in Mobile Alabama, less than 40 miles from the liquor store in on Old Slag Road in Moss Point, MS.

https://www.facebook.com/phoeng.thach.9

It appears that Kampot Chara's new husband lives in Washington State. Has he been roped into buying a liquor store in Mississippi for Chara's sister to run? Are he and Chara moving there? Did Chara find a hapless sucker to use just to reunite with her sister?

Yesterday, Chara was angrily posting screenshots of FB messages that her husband got, warning him about Chara. Either she reads all his FB messages, or he forwards all the "Chara is evil" messages he receives right to her, and then she flies into a rage. That's healthy.

I absolutely love the way this story is going! Praying Joe comes back to the Kampot Chara & Joe show, it just isn't the same with this new random dude who married her the second he met her!

She is now complaining about nepotism in judging a pole dancing competition at a bar in Kampot.
