You're basically confirming what Gavin Mac says in that you have a bias. Making fun of chicks is ok, but weird white guys isn't ok.Brody wrote:I would think that because (in your example) the flabby backpacker chick, with flopping milk-wagons and vintage Russian market balloon pants, has made the local news outlets, there is a certain detachment and the more immature among us feel more comfortable with poking fun.
Whereas, the sun-soaking elders were sought out by you for the specific purposes of derision.
They certainly affect everyone's eyes. And I don't say that to poke fun of the elderly or anything. The young guys who cross Norodom shirtless thinking they're at Mardi Gras, or the more recent tourist and expats in Kampot who seem to think shirts in a town are optional also make me cringe every time I see them. Locals aren't especially impressed either, even the ones who live by the riverside and are used to weird barang behaviour.Brody wrote:Sun worshiping retirees do not effect anyone.
The only thing I feel isn't kosher is clandestinely taking pictures of people. You can make fun of weird turban guy, many of us have seen him walking around, but taking pictures is kind of creepy as well. I think we all already know Gavin Mac is a weird guy, this weird obsession just another expression of it.

I have no empathy for elderly men, irrespective of cock size. Mock away

No, Bitte_Kein_Lexus I'm not confirming what Cam Nivag says, I'm extending on the example that he gave, which was of a backpacker chick. If he had given an example of a smelly dreadlocked dude that got robbed I would have extended off of that example.
My point was that there is a detachment when the photos have been posted part and parcel with a news story...and not when they are posted from some creepy guy who took the photos for the sole purpose of engaging in mockery and derision.
Cam Nivag was having trouble understanding why people were having a negative reaction to the photos he surreptitiously took and I was trying to explain what I thought the differences might be,
between what he was doing
versus
people commenting on photos of some unfortunate soul that were published as a part of some local news story in the public domain.
Some people have less trouble with the latter and more so with the former.

Do the people who have a problem with my photography of riverside dudes also have a problem with the wildly popular People of Walmart website, or the Passenger Shaming website, or the fantastic /r/publicfreakout subreddit which mostly features video after video of Floridians lunging over the counter to assault McDonald's clerks?

They might, but we're not on those sites we're on this site.
Could make an interesting poll though....take it away Cam Nivag.

What a bizarre idea.Imagine how many great shots I could get if I made taking these photos my full time job or just outsourced the work to a Khmer professional.

I have a problem with the facebook group people who eat on tubes. It features photos of people eating on trains. It's usually the London underground, but occasionally there are international ones. The photos are all taken without the person's prior knowledge or consent.Cam Nivag wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 10:07 pm Do the people who have a problem with my photography of riverside dudes also have a problem with the wildly popular People of Walmart website, or the Passenger Shaming website, or the fantastic /r/publicfreakout subreddit which mostly features video after video of Floridians lunging over the counter to assault McDonald's clerks?
The problem is that they changed the name of the page from women who eat on tubes to people who eat on tubes because people (probably women & transgenders) complained that it was sexist. Now instead of being 100% photos of women eating on trains, it's a mix.

I'm sure I'm not alone here in barely wearing anything other than a pair of basketball shorts at home, others just wear kramas. However I'm not going outside looking like that. Besides anything you'll get fucking skin cancer if you keep basting yourself in the midday sun. Surreptitiously taking their pictures is a bit creepy, but they should have a bit more decorum or they open themselves to ridicule.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 9:25 pm They certainly affect everyone's eyes. On a related note I came across this Irish/English dude's report on Cambodia from just recently. He's pleasantly upbeat about Phnom Penh:
